About the project

Fallen Soldiers is a dedication piece to the 2021 war in Armenia from the Los Angeles Armenia community to the fallen soldiers.

For Armenians around the globe, this is a tragic topic. The work consists of over 5000 individually sculpted faces. The artist gilded each piece in genuine gold leaf, symbolizing timelessness and immortality. He then mounts the work on a giant black wall, symbolizing isolation's emptiness.

On the reverse side of the wall is a giant Sun rising. This work acts as a physical refrain that another dawn is inevitable.

The goal is to immortalize the fallen soldiers and show a physical experience to the scale of loss inflicted by the conflict.

The project aims to raise awareness by transporting the work to a prominent site in Armenia in 2022-23.
